This refers to Buddhist art developed based on the Avatamsaka Sutra, but few surviving pieces remain in China, Korea, or Japan. In Japan, pieces from the Nara period and the end of the Heian period through to the Kamakura period have survived intermittently, mainly from Todaiji Temple, which is noteworthy when considering Avatamsaka Sutra art. There is an old translation of the Avatamsaka Sutra in 60 volumes and a new translation in 80 volumes, but the final chapter of each version is the "Entering the Realm of Dharma," a Buddhist tale in which the boy Suddenly visits 53 wise men in search of the Dharma.
