Peristediidae

…A general term for marine fishes belonging to the Peristediidae family of the order Scorpaeniformes, or one of these. They resemble the gurnard (family Peristediidae), but are distinguished by their bony plates covering their body, the two soft rays at the bottom of their pectoral fins being detached and finger-like, and the complex branching barbels on their lower jaw.
