The Ando Rebellion

Japanese: 安東氏の乱 - あんどうしのらん

At the end of the Kamakura period, a conflict broke out between the head family and the illegitimate family of the Ando clan, a powerful clan in Tsugaru, over territory. In 1321, the two families appealed to the shogunate, but when no decision was made, the shogunate took force the following spring and sent troops to quell the conflict. The conflict was not easily contained, and the shogunate's authority was eroded, but it was finally put down thanks to the efforts of Nambu Nagatsugu and others.

鎌倉時代末期，津軽の豪族安東氏の宗家と庶子家が，所領をめぐって争った争乱。元亨1 (1321) 年，両家は幕府に訴えたが，裁決が下らなかったため，翌年春実力行動に出，幕府は派兵して鎮定させた。兵乱は容易に治まらず，幕府の権威は失墜したが，南部長継らの活躍でようやく鎮圧された。
