The genus Arachniodes has about 50 known species in East Asia, and A. sporadosora (Kunze) Nakaike and A. exilis (Hance) Ching are common in coastal chinquapin forests. A. simplicicior (Makino) Ohwi has dark green leaves with bright yellow-green spots, and is used as an ornamental plant around the world.
