A small, light, flat-bottomed boat unique to the Ryukyu region, with a long, narrow hull. Originally it was a full log boat, but today, because large timber is no longer available, the sides are usually made of three planks joined together. Although it is a small, flat-bottomed boat, it used to be possible to row out quite far into the ocean to fish, but in recent years, outboard motors have been installed, allowing the boat to travel even further.
