Benventan

...an art that is created when writing characters or written characters are considered as aesthetic objects, primarily from a formative perspective. It developed from ancient times in the Oriental world of Chinese characters, particularly in China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. In other regions, such as the Islamic world and Europe, writing characters as an aesthetic object also occurred, but it can be said that the significance and importance of this is smaller than in the Oriental world of Chinese characters. Therefore, calligraphy can be said to be a unique art that developed in the Oriental world of Chinese characters, centered on China.
