A legend dating back to the Middle Ages in Europe, King of the Fairies. Husband of the fairy Titania. Appears in works by Shakespeare, Wieland, and others. The fourth moon of Uranus. Discovered by F. W. Herschel in 1787. Its name comes from its appearance in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." It is the second largest moon in the Uranus system, and has craters and canyons on its surface. Its diameter is about 1,520 km (about 0.12 times that of the Earth). The average surface temperature is below minus 212 degrees Celsius. Weber's opera in three acts. Its official title is "Oberon, or the Oath of the Fairy King." It premiered in London in 1826. It is based on the epic poem "Oberon" by Wieland, which is a medieval French romance.
