1893‐1945
French novelist, poet, and critic. He served in World War I and was wounded several times, and his experiences led to the creation of his poetry collection The Inquisition (1917). From around 1921, he became interested in the Surrealism of Aragon and Breton, and at the same time, he developed an interest in contemporary politics. His political essay The Measurement of France (1922) and his collection of novellas Complaints of the Unknown (1924) were well received. Faced with the issue of how to overcome decadence in Europe, especially in France, Deru aspired to the path of fascism, while Aragon and others found a way out in Communism.

フランスの小説家，詩人，評論家。第1次大戦に従軍して数度も負傷し，その体験から詩集《審問》(1917)などが生まれた。1921年ころからアラゴンやブルトンらのシュルレアリスムに接近し，同時に現代政治への関心も深めてゆく。政治的エッセー《フランスの測定》(1922)，中編小説集《未知なるものへの愁訴》(1924)などが好評をもって迎えられた。ヨーロッパの，特にフランスのデカダンスをいかに克服するかという課題に直面し，アラゴンらがコミュニズムに活路を見いだしたのに対してドリュはファシズムの道を志向した。
