The main purpose of this project was to produce rice, which was the staple food. Rice, which did not originally grow in the Japanese archipelago, was introduced to the Genkai Sea side of northern Kyushu at the end of the Jomon period. It then spread throughout the Japanese archipelago, except for a few areas, during the Yayoi period. As a result, large settlements were formed in various areas, and small countries were created.
