Gill, Laforgue, Stuart Merrill, Laurent Tailhade, and Jean Lorrain contributed. Other notable Decadent writers include Moreas, Mendes, Schwob, Gourmont, the women Renée Vivien and Rachilde, the Belgians Verhaeren and Rodenbach, and the mystic Péladan. This tendency extended to the realm of arts other than literature, and also crossed the borders of France to other places, so it would be unjust to limit this pan-European current to its center, Paris. …
