This hot spring is located in Kawasaki Town, Shibata County, in southern Miyagi Prefecture. It is located halfway up the eastern slope of Mt. Zao, at the bottom of the Nigori River, a tributary of the Matsukawa River, and its name comes from the beauty of the surrounding valley. The spring water is saltwater, at 58°C. It is known to be particularly effective against gastrointestinal illnesses, and there is an open-air bath facing the river. With the opening of the Zao Echo Line (1962), transportation became more convenient, and together with Aone Onsen, it has become a base for climbing Mt. Zao. There is a bus from Shiroishi Station on the Tohoku Main Line. [Tanizawa Akira] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
