Racquets

...A game is won by the first player to reach nine points, but in an 8-on-8 game, the receiver can choose to play it as a 10-point game or as a 9-point game. Squash is a variation of rackets (racquets), in which players hit the ball by bouncing it off the wall. It is said to have originated in the mid-19th century when boys at Harrow School in England squashed the ball to weaken the bounce while waiting for their turn to use their rackets, making it possible to play in the narrow space beside the court. In the 1890s, special courts were built, and the game quickly spread throughout the UK in the 1920s.
