The Labour Party's organ newspaper, the Daily Herald (first published in 1912), which showed a unique presence and activity against the backdrop of the establishment of the Labour Party government, was turned into a tabloid by Odhams Press in 1929 due to financial difficulties. It was revived once, but finally ceased publication on September 14, 1964. It was then purchased by the Daily Mirror, which renamed it The Sun the following day. In 1969, Rupert Murdoch purchased the paper, which had been Labour Party-affiliated since its founding, and changed its editorial tone to be more Conservative. Since then, he has campaigned in support of the Conservative Party in every general election, which is said to have contributed greatly to its victories. …
