The 18th century portrait tradition was continued in the 19th century by Henry Raeburn (1756-1823), T. Lawrence and others, but Romanticism in painting blossomed in the form of landscape painting, centered on JMW Turner and J. Constable. The birth of landscape painting is also related to the rise of artistic concepts such as "picturesque" and "the sublime," which were actively discussed from around the end of the 18th century, and the rise of Romantic literature that praised nature, as represented by the poet Wordsworth.
