...The Grand Duchy, which was established under the dynastic union with Poland under Władysław II and whose national system was also Polishized, became a Polish vassal state in the Union of Lublin (1569) during the Livonian War, formally an equal but de facto Polish province, and ceded Ukraine to Poland at that time. After this, there were protests by Eastern Orthodox Christians in the east against the church union at the end of the 16th century, and a separatist movement by the Lithuanian noble Radziwiłł family during the Swedish invasion in the mid-17th century, but after 1569 the Grand Duchy shared the same fate as the Kingdom of Poland and was dissolved during the Partitions of Poland.
