…The great vestibular gland is also called glandula vestibularis major. It is one of the glands attached to the female external genitalia (vulva) and corresponds to the male bulbourethral gland (Cowper's gland). It was discovered by Danish anatomist Caspar Bartholin (1655-1738) and was named after him. There are two pairs of glands on the left and right behind the vaginal opening. They are pea-sized mucus glands that secrete a thin milky mucus during sexual arousal. There is one duct on each side, which opens into the vaginal vestibule at the inner part of the labia minora, a depression at the border with the vaginal opening. …
