Japanese: カラスノエンドウ(烏豌豆) - カラスノエンドウ（英語表記）Vicia angustifolia L.

A wild annual or biennial plant of the Fabaceae family, in the same genus as the broad bean (illustration). It is also called the common pea. It is a common weed in sunny places such as roadsides and fields. The vine-like stems can reach 150 cm in length, and tendrils at the ends of the leaves wrap around other objects. The leaves are pinnately compound with 8 to 16 even numbered leaflets, and the stipules at the base have large black-brown glandular dots in the center. The leaflets are narrowly obovate, concave at the tip, and 2 to 3 cm long. The flowers are reddish purple and bloom from March to June. There are 1 to 3 flowers in each leaf axil, and they are 12 to 18 mm long.

ソラマメと同属の野生のマメ科の一年草または越年草（イラスト）。ヤハズエンドウ(矢筈豌豆)とも呼ばれる。道ばたや野原などの日当りのよい場所にふつうな雑草。茎はつる状で，長さ150cmに達し，葉の先の巻きひげによって他物に巻きつく。葉は8～16枚の偶数枚の小葉をもつ羽状複葉で，基部の托葉の中央には黒褐色の大型の腺点がある。小葉は狭倒卵形で先端はくぼんでおり，長さ2～3cm。花は紅紫色で3～6月に咲き，葉腋（ようえき）に1～3花ずつつき，長さ12～18mm。
