[1] [noun] ① A rugged, masculine mountain. A word used to describe one of a pair of mountains, with one being likened to a man. Odake (male mountain) ⇔ Onna-yama (female mountain). ② In military strategy, a mountain with a good view that makes it difficult for the enemy to ascend. Yozan (positive mountain) ⇔ Onna-yama (female mountain). ③ A famous sake produced in the Itami region of Hyogo Prefecture. ※Sharebon Kinkin Sanchoden (1783): "Only two cups of sake. Of course, Kenbishika Otoko-yama." ④ The name of a fragrant wood. It is classified as aloeswood . One of the 120 famous incense trees. [2] A mountain in the northern part of Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture. It faces Mount Tennozan across the Yodo River. It serves as the western gateway to Kyoto, and has often been a battlefield since the period of the Northern and Southern Courts. Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine is located on the summit. It is 142 meters above sea level. Mount Yutoku. Yawatayama. Oyama .
