Japanese: 中新田[町] - なかにいだ

A former town in Kami County in north-central Miyagi Prefecture. Occupying the midstream of the Naruse River, Nakashinden, in the center, is the Taniguchi settlement, and developed as a commercial center. With extensive rice paddies, it is one of the prefecture's leading producers of brand-name rice. Dairy farming, fruit growing, and vegetable cultivation are also carried out in the hills. There is an industrial park in the southern and eastern parts of the town. In April 2003, it merged with Onoda Town and Miyazaki Town to form Kami Town. 61.44 ^km2 . Population: 13,929 (2000).

宮城県中北部，加美(かみ)郡の旧町。鳴瀬川中流域を占め，中心の中新田は谷口集落で，商業中心地として発達。水田が広く，県下でも有数の銘柄米の産地。丘陵部では酪農，果樹，野菜栽培も行われる。町の南部と東部には，工業団地もある。2003年４月，小野田町，宮崎町と合併して加美町となる。61.44km²。１万3929人（2000）。
