Trance (English spelling)

Japanese: トランス（英語表記）trance

A mental state similar to sleep, characterized by a loss of sense of reality, a decreased sensitivity to stimuli, a lack of voluntary movement, and the occurrence of automatic movements without one's will. This state often occurs during hysterical attacks and can also be induced by hypnosis. A religious or emotional trance is called ecstasy. In extreme cases, the trance can lead to a coma.
