Dictionary. Compiled by the Society of Jesus in Japan. Published in Nagasaki in 1598 (Keicho 3). A dictionary for learning how to read Chinese words and kanji, it consists of three parts: Honhen (sound-based), Irohajishu (reading-based), and Kodamahen (character shape-based). It is based on the Setsuyoshu (a collection of phrases used in Japan at the time), "Wadamahen," but the idea of dividing Japanese into two parts, sound-based and reading-based, for the convenience of practical use can be said to be rational and original. Contains about 2,200 kanji characters.Fallen Leaves Collection Fallen Leaves CollectionSource: The Selected Edition of the Japanese Language Dictionary About the Selected Edition of the Japanese Language Dictionary Information |
辞書。日本イエズス会編。慶長三年(一五九八)長崎刊。漢語や漢字の読み方を知るための辞書で、本篇(音引き)、色葉字集(訓引き)、小玉篇(字形引き)の三部より成る。当時の日本に通行していた節用集、「和玉篇」に基づいているが、実用する際の便宜として音引き・訓引きで日本語を二分する発想は合理的かつ独創的といえる。漢字字母約二千二百。
