Chador

Japanese: チャドル

In Persian, it is a traditional black dress worn by Islamic women that completely covers the head and body. In Arabic, it is called habara. In Islam, women are not allowed to show their body lines or expose their skin or hair, so there are various shapes and types depending on the region, country, ethnicity, and sect. In Iran, it is called a chador, but in Afghanistan, the same thing is called a chadori, and a chador is a short dress that covers the shoulders. Historically, it was common to only put mesh around the eyes and not show anything outside.

ペルシア語でイスラムの女性の着る，頭から全身をすっぽりおおう伝統的な黒地の服。アラビア語ではハバラhabara。イスラムでは教義により女性は体の線を見せたり肌，髪を露出しないこととされているため，地域や国，民族，宗派によりさまざまな形，種類のものがある。イランではチャドルというがアフガニスタンでは同じものをチャドリと呼び，チャドルは肩あたりまでをおおう短いものをいう。歴史的には，目の部分にのみ網目を入れていっさい外部に表さないことも行われてきた。
