Odaitou

Japanese: 尾岱沼 - おだいとう

This district faces Notsuke Bay in Betsukai Town, eastern Hokkaido. It contains a fishing port and a youth travel village. It can also refer to Notsuke Bay, which is surrounded by Cape Notsuke. In mid-November, a large flock of whooper swans arrive on the coast near Shiratoridai, south of the village. Cape Notsuke is home to Todowara, a strange sight of dead Japanese Sakhalin fir trees, and tourist boats connect Odainuma Port and Todowara in the summer.

Notsuke Bay
An inland bay separated from the Nemuro Strait by Cape Notsuke. It is also called Odaitai-numa. The water is only about 5m deep at its deepest point, and fixed net fishing for shrimp, flounder, and sillago is carried out here. The sight of shrimp fishing boats floating with their white sails spread is a typical sight in Notsuke Bay. In 2005, it became a Ramsar Convention registered wetland. 北海道東部、別海町(べつかいちょう)の野付湾(のつけわん)に臨む地区。漁港と青少年旅行村がある。また、野付崎に囲まれた野付湾をさす場合もある。11月なかばに集落の南方、白鳥台付近の海岸にオオハクチョウの大群が飛来する。野付崎にはトドマツが立ち枯れた風景が奇観を呈するトドワラがあり、尾岱沼港とトドワラの間は夏期に観光船が連絡している。
