Emperor Hanazono's Diary - Hanazono Tennou Nikki
The diary of Emperor Hanazono. It is also called "Hanazono-in Shinki." He wrote it intermittently from 1310 (Enkei 3) when he was 14 years old until 1332 (Genko 2). The 47 volumes of handwritten copies have been passed down through the Fushiminomiya family and are currently kept in the Archives and Mausolea Department of the Imperial Household Agency. Hanazono himself named it "Tokanki." Many of them are written in the Guchu-reki calendar, and they frankly express Hanazono's own impressions and criticisms on topics such as the political process of the conflict between the two imperial lines, the people of the Imperial family, waka poetry, scholarship, and Buddhism, making it an important historical document that covers a wide range of subjects. Included in "Shiryo Taisei."
