Sensualism

...A philosophical position that asserts that all knowledge comes from sensation alone, or that sensation is a necessary and sufficient condition for all knowledge. The term sensualisme (sensationalism) has been used in France since the early 19th century, and was included in the French Dictionary of the Academies in the 1878 edition. In England, the word sensualist had been in use since the 18th century, but as its etymology suggests, it only had a derogatory meaning of "hedonistic" or "carnal" (Berkeley, Alciphron, Book II, Chapter 16).
