Seven Sisters. A collective term for seven traditional and famous private women's colleges in the eastern United States: Barnard College (New York), Bryn Mawr College (Pennsylvania, Tsuda Umeko's alma mater), Mount Holyoke College (Massachusetts), Radcliffe College (Massachusetts, part of Harvard University), Smith College (Massachusetts), Vassar College (New York, now coeducational; Oyama Sutematsu's alma mater), and Wellesley College (Massachusetts), but this term is not used much these days. There are currently about 60 women's colleges in the United States, and they are focusing on nurturing future social leaders.

セブン・シスターズ。アメリカ東部の伝統的な有名私立女子大学７校：Barnard College（ニューヨーク州）、Bryn Mawr College（ペンシルバニア州、津田梅子の母校）、Mount Holyoke College（マサチューセッツ州）、Radcliffe College（マサチューセッツ州、Harvard Universityの一部）、Smith College（マサチューセッツ州）、Vassar College（ニューヨーク州、現在は共学。大山捨松の母校）、Wellesley College（マサチューセッツ州）の総称ですが、最近ではこの呼称はあまり用いられません。アメリカには現在約60の女子大があり、未来の社会リーダーの育成に力を入れています。
