An Asian sports organization whose purpose is to spread the Olympic movement throughout Asia. Abbreviation: OCA. It was launched in New Delhi (India) on December 5th, 1982, after the 9th Asian Games. It restructured the former Asian Sports Federation (AGF), and has 43 member countries (as of 1997), each of which is made up of their National Olympic Committees (NOCs). In addition to hosting the Asian Games every four years, it carries out various projects to promote sports exchanges among Asian countries.
