Hexane

C ₆ H ₁₄ (86.18). CH ₃ (CH ₂ ) ₄ CH ₃ . Paraffin with 6 carbon atoms has 5 isomers. Although these isomers are sometimes referred to collectively, the straight-chain one is specifically called hexane, and is often called n -hexane. It is found in petroleum hydrocarbon cracking oil and crude oil. In the laboratory, it can be obtained by condensing two molecules of propyl iodide with metallic sodium, or by hydrogenating 1-, 2-, or 3-hexene using a nickel catalyst. In industry, it can be separated from naphtha by precision distillation, and purified by removing benzene and other impurities. Flammable colorless liquid. Melting point -95.35 °C, boiling point 68.74 °C. 0.65481. 1.37226. Explosive range 1.3 to 6.9% by volume. Low chemical reactivity. Its main use is as a solvent, but as the hexane fraction of the mixture it is used as a solvent for extracting various oils and fats, as a diluent for essential oils, and as a rubber glue solvent. C₆H₁₄(86.18)．CH₃(CH₂)₄CH₃．炭素数6のパラフィンには5種類の異性体が存在する．これら異性体を総称する場合もあるが，そのうち直鎖状のものをとくにヘキサンといい，n-ヘキサンとよばれることも多い．石油系炭化水素の分解油および原油中に存在する．実験室的には，ヨウ化プロピル2分子を金属ナトリウムで縮合させるか，1-，2-，または3-ヘキセンをニッケル触媒などを用いて水素化すると得られる．工業的には，ナフサから精密蒸留によって分離し，ベンゼンそのほかの混在成分を除去精製すると得られる．引火性の無色の液体．融点－95.35 ℃，沸点68.74 ℃．0.65481．1.37226．爆発範囲1.3～6.9体積％．化学反応性は低い．用途はおもに溶剤であるが，混合物のヘキサン留分として各種油脂の抽出用溶剤，精油希釈剤，ゴムのり溶剤などに用いられる．[CAS 110-54-3]
