Hisaita Eijiro - Hisaita Eijiro

Playwright and scriptwriter. Born in Miyagi Prefecture. He approached the Shinjinkai while studying Japanese literature at Tokyo Imperial University, and after graduation he joined the proletarian theater movement. In 1934 (Showa 9), he helped found the Shinkyo Theater Company, and released works such as "Fault Line" (1935), "Northeast Wind" and "Even if There Are Ten Million People, I Won't Go" (1937). He built a monumental piece of social realism drama before World War II. After the Shinkyo Theater Company disbanded, he worked at Shochiku Ofuna Studio and wrote scripts, and after the war, he worked on such films as "Morning at the Osone House" (1946) directed by Kinoshita Keisuke, "No Regrets for My Youth" (1946) and "The Idiot" (1951) directed by Kurosawa Akira. His plays include "Power of Affinity" (1949), "The Red Cardigan" (1955), and "Principle of Japan" (1970).

劇作家、シナリオ作家。宮城県に生まれる。東京帝国大学国文科在学中に新人会に接近し、卒業後プロレタリア演劇運動に参加。1934年（昭和9）新協劇団創立に加わり、『断層』（1935）、『北東の風』『千万人と雖(いえど)も我(われ)行かん』（1937）などを発表。第二次世界大戦前の社会派リアリズム戯曲の金字塔を築いた。新協劇団解散後は松竹大船撮影所に在籍してシナリオを書き、戦後、木下恵介監督の『大曽根家(おおそねけ)の朝』（1946）、黒澤明監督の『わが青春に悔なし』（1946）、『白痴』（1951）などを手がけた。劇作には『親和力』（1949）、『赤いカーディガン』（1955）、『原理日本』（1970）などがある。
