slat

Japanese: slat
slat

...When the angle of attack of a wing becomes large, the air first hits the underside of the wing slightly behind the leading edge, then flows around the leading edge to the upper surface of the wing, losing momentum and becoming more likely to separate, causing a stall. To prevent this, the leading edge of the wing is extended forward to create a gap, allowing the air that hits the underside to flow directly to the upper surface of the wing, preventing separation. This forward-extending part is called a slat, and the gap created by the slat is called a slot.
[Boundary Layer Control Device]
This device blows out air from inside the wing to give momentum to areas where the airflow (boundary layer) on the surface of the wing is prone to separating, preventing the separation. It is also called a BLC device, which is an acronym for the English boundary layer control.
