Albany Union Plan

…Since the beginning of the 18th century, the conflict between Britain and France intensified the conflict between the colonies in North America, and the Indians were pro-French. In 1854, Britain decided to unify the North American colonies and to jointly defend them. Representatives from New England, New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland met in Albany to discuss the establishment of a confederated government (June 19 to July 10). The Albany Confederation Plan, drafted by B. Franklin, was adopted. This was a plan for a confederated government consisting of a governor appointed by the king and a confederation council made up of representatives elected by each colonial assembly. …
