A village in Minamitsuru County in the southeastern part of Yamanashi Prefecture. The Katsura River, which flows out of Lake Yamanaka, brushes against the western part of the village, and it is home to the famous Oshino Hakkai (World Heritage Site), a scenic spot where underground water from Mt. Fuji springs emerge, and Oshino Onsen. In the southwestern part of the village, there is the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Camp Kita Fuji, as well as the headquarters and factory of FANUC, Japan's largest manufacturer of industrial robots.
