structural core

...A method of architectural structural planning in which necessary auxiliary facilities such as toilets, stairs, and elevators are concentrated in the same location on each floor (called a service core) and used as structural members such as earthquake-resistant walls and columns (called a structural core). In the case of office buildings, the office is called the purpose space, and the trend in modern architecture is to plan in a way that increases the freedom of that purpose space.
