...A monk who translators Chinese esoteric Buddhism. His Sanskrit name is Śubhakarasiṃha, and Shanwuwei is a translation of that. He was born in the country of Udah (Orissa) in eastern India, and became king at a young age. Later, he became a monk and mastered the mysteries of esoteric Buddhism under Bodhidharma at the Nalanda Monastery in central India.
