Przewalski's wild horse

Japanese: プシバルスキーウマ（英語表記）Przewalski’s wild horse

Also known as the Przewalski's horse or Mongolian wild horse. A mammal of the odd-toed ungulate order, family Equidae. Once widespread across the grasslands of Central Asia, this wild horse is thought to be the ancestor of some domestic horses. Since the 19th century, it has rapidly disappeared due to habitat destruction and hunting, and today only a few herds survive in the Tangshi-Shala-Nur Mountains of Mongolia. Its mane is characterized by stiff, 15-20 cm long bristles that stand upright. Its body color is reddish yellow or brown. Its body length is 220-280 cm, shoulder height 120-146 cm, tail length 92-111 cm, and weight 200-300 kg.

プルジェワリスキーウマ，モウコノウマ(蒙古野馬)ともいう。奇蹄目ウマ科の哺乳類。中央アジアの草原にかつて広く分布した野生ウマで，一部の家畜ウマの祖先型と考えられる。19世紀以降生息地の破壊と狩猟によって急激に姿を消し，現在ではモンゴルのタンシ･シャラ･ヌル山脈にわずかの群れが生き残るのみとなった。たてがみが，長さ15～20cmの堅い剛毛からなり，直立するのが特徴。体色は赤みの強い黄色あるいは茶色。体長220～280cm，肩高120～146cm，尾長92～111cm，体重200～300kg。
