A form of Kabuki. It is a form of entertainment that was performed in Kyoto around 1603 by a woman called Okuni, who was a shrine maiden at Izumo Taisha Shrine. She gained popularity by performing kabuki dances that incorporated the customs of the kabukimono (outcasts who were outcasts from the establishment), who were rampant at the time, such as group dances and skits performed by women dressed as men, and this led to the establishment of similar female kabuki performances all over the country. →Related Articles Izumo Country | Nagoya Sansan Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
