...An equalizer that creates a peaking characteristic in the mid-range is sometimes called a presence equalizer. A graphic equalizer divides the frequency band into several bands, and the knobs that represent the peaking center frequencies are arranged in a straight line for a flat characteristic. By moving the knobs up and down, a peaking characteristic is created for each band. The name comes from the fact that the frequency characteristics can be visualized graphically depending on the knob position.
