Poet. Born in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. Graduated from the National English Association. In 1909 (Meiji 42), on the recommendation of Hitomi Tomei, he published poems such as "Omori" in the eighth volume of "Shizen to Impression." He subsequently contributed to magazines such as Sosaku, Shinbungei, and Subaru. In 1912 (Taisho 1), he founded "Terakotsuta" with Senge Motomaro and others, and the following year "Seikatsu." In his poetry collections "Taiyo no Ko" (Child of the Sun) (1914) and "Tenbo" (View) (1920), he wrote humanitarian-style songs about life in a simple, colloquial style. He also published distinctive research and critical works such as "Nihon phonometric theory" (1930) and "Honnihon ko" (Thoughts on the original Japan) (1942).
