A former town in Oku District, in the southeastern part of Okayama Prefecture. The Ako Line runs through the town. The Sencho Plain in the Yoshii River delta is one of the prefecture's leading grain-producing areas. Remains of the jori system remain in the Sencho River basin. Nagashima Island is located at the eastern end of the town. In November 2004, the town merged with Ushimado Town and Osafune Town in Oku District to become Setouchi City. 68.70 km2 . 岡山県南東部,邑久郡の旧町。赤穂線が通じる。吉井川三角州の千町(せんちょう)平野が開け,県下有数の穀倉地帯。千町川流域には条里制遺構が残る。東端に長島がある。2004年11月邑久郡牛窓町,長船町と合併し市制,瀬戸内市となる。68.70km2。1万9759人(2003)。
