A Hmong kingdom located in the lower Menam River basin in Thailand. Much about its history is unclear, but it is believed to have arisen around the 7th century and disappeared in the 11th century when the Khmer people of the Angkor Dynasty advanced into this region. Xuanzang of the Tang Dynasty, who traveled to India in the 7th century, recorded in his Records of the Western Regions of the Great Tang Dynasty that there was a country called Darahattei between the kingdom of Ishanapura in Cambodia and the kingdom of Sriksetra in Burma (now Myanmar). Darahattei was a Chinese transliteration of the Sanskrit word Dbhāravati. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
