Theosophical Society

…The term “theosophy” is always used to describe a specific system or worldview, and is therefore distinct from “mysticism.” In 1875, after Madame Blavatsky and Henry Steel Olcott (1832-1907) founded the Theosophical Society in New York, the term came to refer specifically to the position of the Theosophical Society. According to Blavatsky, since ancient times, the secrets of the origin of the universe and mankind have been passed down among certain initiates, and from these, Eastern and Western religions have later arisen in forms appropriate to their respective eras. However, the time has come to make public the important parts of the secrets, to transcend the conflicts between religions, and to return to the original divine wisdom. …
