Ogano [town] - Ogano

Japanese: 小鹿野[町] - おがの

A town in Chichibu County, western Saitama Prefecture. It occupies the mountainous and hilly areas of the upper reaches of the Akabira River. The town center was a market town in the early modern period, and is still the commercial center of Nishi-Chichibu today. The town produces cucumbers, mitsuba, and other greenhouse horticulture products, as well as shiitake mushrooms and shimeji mushrooms. The town also produces a thriving electrical and machinery manufacturing industry. Mount Ryokami is located on the western edge. In October 2005, Ryokami Village, Chichibu County, was incorporated into the town. Area: ^{171.26 km2} . Population: 13,436 (2010).
