An industrial city in the northeastern part of New Jersey, USA. Population 61,000 (1990). Located at the southern tip of the peninsula between New York and Newark, it is connected to Staten Island by the Bayern Bridge (511m long). Its main industrial activity is refining petroleum delivered by pipeline from the oil fields in the southwestern United States. There is a large dock and supply base for the US Navy.
