...The central city of the Hanawa (Kazuno) Basin in northeastern Akita Prefecture. In 1972, the towns of Hanawa, Towada, Osarizawa, and Hachimantai in Kazuno County were merged to form a city and renamed. Population: 41,184 (1995).
