Born to British actor Maurice Barrymore (1847-1905) and American actress Georgiana Emma Drew (1856-93), they had three children who were particularly famous in the United States. The eldest son, Lionel Barrymore (1878-1954), appeared on stage as a boy and became a popular actor, but gradually began to concentrate on film work, which he continued to do from 1925 onwards. …
