The Puritans refused to follow the faith and became nonconformists, and after the Glorious Revolution in 1688, they formed the Free Church. The Anglican Church's overseas missionary work, which began when the British people went abroad, was carried out by the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in foreign parts (SPG) and the Church Missionary Society (CMS). After the Oxford Movement, the former advocated Anglo-Catholicism and the latter Low Church evangelism and worked to spread the gospel around the world. In Japan, the first missionaries were CM Williams and John Liggins of the Anglican Church in 1859, and the first missionaries were sent by the CMS in 1669 and the SPG four years later. ...
