Japanese: 道後[温泉] - どうご

A hot spring in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture. Weak alkaline simple spring. 40-55°C. Located in the eastern part of the city, it is a famous hot spring on par with Kusatsu and Arima. It has been known since ancient times, with Prince Shotoku and Yamabe no Akahito visiting Dogo, and in the Middle Ages, the Kono clan built and managed a hot spring facility. In the Edo period, the Matsuyama domain worked to improve the facilities. The hot spring town developed around the public baths. The amount of water flowing from the hot spring increased through drilling, and the inns are equipped with indoor baths. Nearby are Yujinja Shrine, Hogonji Temple, Ishiteji Temple, and Dogo Park. There is a bus service from Matsuyama Station. Okudogo is a new entertainment area.

愛媛県松山市にある温泉。弱アルカリ単純泉。40〜55℃。市街の東部にあり，草津，有馬と並ぶ名湯。聖徳太子や山部赤人の道後来浴など古代より知られ，中世には河野氏が温泉館をつくって管理した。江戸時代には松山藩により施設の充実がはかられた。温泉街は共同浴場を中心として発達。ボーリングによる湧出量が増加し，旅館は内湯が完備。付近に湯神社，宝厳寺，石手寺，道後公園がある。松山駅からバスが通じる。奥道後は新興の娯楽地。
