A hot spring in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture. Weak alkaline simple spring. 40-55°C. Located in the eastern part of the city, it is a famous hot spring on par with Kusatsu and Arima. It has been known since ancient times, with Prince Shotoku and Yamabe no Akahito visiting Dogo, and in the Middle Ages, the Kono clan built and managed a hot spring facility. In the Edo period, the Matsuyama domain worked to improve the facilities. The hot spring town developed around the public baths. The amount of water flowing from the hot spring increased through drilling, and the inns are equipped with indoor baths. Nearby are Yujinja Shrine, Hogonji Temple, Ishiteji Temple, and Dogo Park. There is a bus service from Matsuyama Station. Okudogo is a new entertainment area. → Related topics Ehime Prefecture | Matsuyama City Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
