Mount Mitsutoge

Japanese: 三ッ峠山 - みつとうげやま

A mountain in the eastern part of the Misaka Mountains in central-eastern Yamanashi Prefecture. It is 1,785 meters above sea level. It is made up of the Misaka Formation. It is also known as Mount Shinrei, and was a place of training for Buddhist monks during the Edo period. The cliffs on the south side of the summit, called Byobu Rock and about 120 meters high, are famous as a practice area for rock climbing. It belongs to Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, and there is a trail from Mitsutoge Station on the Fujikyuko Line.

山梨県中東部，御坂山地東部にある山。標高1785m。御坂層からなる。神鈴山などともみえ，江戸時代には念仏行者の行場となった。山頂南側の屏風(びょうぶ)岩と呼ぶ高さ約120mの断崖は，岩登りの練習場として有名。富士箱根伊豆国立公園に属し，富士急行線三つ峠駅から登山路がある。
