Individual heating

...to heat a room. There are individual heating, in which a stove or other heating device is placed inside each room to be heated, and central heating, in which a heat medium heated by a boiler or heat pump is distributed to multiple rooms. The latter is further classified into direct heating, in which a heat sink such as a radiator or convector is placed, and indirect heating, in which air heated by a device installed in another place (such as a machine room) is sent into the room. Individual heating has been used since ancient times, and in Japan, braziers, kotatsu, and irori have been widely used, while in European countries, stoves and fireplaces have been widely used.
