The WFSW is headquartered in London and is actively involved in issues such as disarmament and peace, international cooperation in science, science policy, and the promotion of the rights and status of scientists. As an advisory body to UNESCO, the WFSW played an important role in drafting the Recommendation Concerning the Status of Scientific Researchers, which was adopted at the 18th UNESCO General Conference in 1974.
